Chartered in 1832, St. Timothy’s School is a college preparatory boarding and day school, preparing girls to assume positions of leadership with moral focus and courage, intellectual honesty and acumen, and the confidence to act responsibly and ethically in all areas of their lives.
St. Timothy’s is located on a beautiful 145-acre campus close to Baltimore, Maryland, and an easy drive to Annapolis, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, and New York City. The School is located within an easy commute to several major airports, including Washington Dulles International Airport, Baltimore Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport. The campus has a brand new, state-of-the-art academic building, which includes a library, world languages center, science laboratories, a learning resource center, and a lecture hall and distance learning space. Other facilities on campus include two residence houses; performing and fine arts space, including a 350-seat theater; a chapel; an athletic center; and a new outdoor athletic complex. Additionally, our equestrian center features newly updated outdoor and indoor riding facilities with synthetic fiber sand footing.
Opening in Fall 2014, the Commons and Redlands Café will provide “farm to table” dining as well as a café and lounge space for students and faculty. The Commons will provide a significant increase in space for both dining and multipurpose functions such as educational, social and cultural events.
One of St. Timothy’s greatest assets is its small student to faculty ratio of 6:1. The average class size is 14. More than two thirds of faculty and administrators live on campus. St. Timothy’s offers a rich and highly individualized program with superb resources in athletics, arts, clubs, world affairs, and community service, capitalizing on the talents and strengths of each individual student.
St. Timothy’s is affiliated with the Episcopal Church, the fundamental principles of which provide a moral compass for the community. The School welcomes students of all faiths and draws strength from a diversity of beliefs and experiences.
St. Timothy’s School welcomes applications from candidates who seek a challenging and supportive academic environment. Evaluations are based upon the student’s academic record, standardized test scores, teacher recommendations, extracurricular involvement and achievement, a personal interview and the student’s motivation to pursue the St. Timothy’s School course of study. Each student is evaluated for the contributions she will make to the community and for the academic, social and personal benefits she will receive.
Families are encouraged to visit campus. Tours and interviews may be scheduled by contacting the Admissions Office at 410.486.7401 or at email@example.com. Meetings with administrators, coaches and faculty members also may be arranged by appointment.
