The Brook Hill School is built upon three pillars – Education, Potential, and Character. It is a place where students are encouraged to excel academically, thrive athletically, and flourish artistically. Brook Hill students work hard in each of these areas as they prepare for college and their futures.
Brook Hill, however, is so much more than students, athletes, and artists. Brook Hill is a community of people using and discovering their God-given gifts, talents, abilities, and interests. When parents say what they appreciate about the school, it is often, “My kids love Brook Hill – it’s a place where they feel that they belong.” In fact, Brook Hill is often described as a “family,” a close-knit community of people who value a comprehensive, quality, Christ-centered, college preparatory education.
The Brook Hill School boarding program has hosted students from all over the world who are entering grades 8 through 12. Students from countries such as Angola, The Bahamas, Caicos Islands, China, Ghana, Japan, Kosovo, Macedonia, Mexico, Nigeria, Paraguay, South Korea, Vietnam, and, of course, the United States have graced our hallways. “The Village at The Brook” currently offers two boarding houses, one for girls and one for boys; more houses will be added soon!
Residential facilities in “The Village” afford students a lifestyle which is like living at home. Rather than traditional dormitories, students live in comfortable, residential-style houses that include the types of amenities they might find in their own homes: spacious bedroom suites, with wireless Internet access and private bath facilities, a common kitchen, game room, sitting room with fireplace, laundry facilities, and more. In fact, student residences in The Village at the Brook are specifically designed to help foster the feeling among residents that they are part of “one big, happy family.”
Overseeing each residence are experienced, full-time house parents, who have their private quarters but also share common areas with students. Pocket doors between the House Parent quarters and common areas allow for privacy when needed, while making available the opportunity for quality interaction between House Parents and students during casual times of the day.
House Parents play an integral role in the Brook Hill boarding students’ lives supervising students’ academic progress, ensuring that they focus on their studies, and helping them to obtain any extra needed help. Also, House Parents plan and lead off-campus activities on weekends, serve as adult mentors – offering a listening ear to students when they need to talk, counsel on personal matters, and support as they tackle daily challenges.
We’re excited about the experiences that are being shared and the friendships that are being formed in our student residences at “The Village at the Brook.” We love to greet Brook Hill borders with a heartfelt, “Welcome home!”
