Located on a picturesque 60-acre campus in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, Appleby College is a coeducational day/boarding school for 750 students in Grades 7-12.
At Appleby, we believe every student deserves an opportunity to pursue an education that excites and challenges them. An education that offers them the chance to discover and embrace their passions both inside and outside of the classroom.
The Appleby experience is characterized by our excellent educational programming, delivered by passionate and engaging teachers. Appleby’s mission is “to educate young men and women to become leaders of character, major contributors to, and valued members of their local, national and international communities” and we do so with a 21st century approach. The academic programme is based on a rigorous university preparatory curriculum and offers a wide array of course offerings available to all students attending Appleby. These include English, Mathematics and Computer Studies, Science, Visual and Performing Arts, Language and Culture, Social Science, Health and Physical Education, and Guidance. With 20 Advanced Placement courses offered in a variety of disciplines, Appleby will be one of only three co-educational boarding schools in Canada to offer the prestigious AP Capstone Diploma starting in 2016.
Recognized for our commitment to global responsibility and education, our students come from more than 40 countries. Our curriculum, with a strong focus on experiential learning, languages, global issues and international service programmes, creates a unique learning environment that promotes global awareness. Appleby is the first day/boarding school in North America to offer an integrated global education programme which culminates in the achievement of the Appleby College Diploma with Distinction in Global Leadership. Through Appleby’s membership in the Belgian-based UCAPE (Union for Cultural and Professional Advancement in Europe), Appleby students also have the opportunity to earn a Diploma in European Proficiency.
Experiential education is a hallmark of the Appleby experience. Appleby’s Outdoor Education programme is centred around the McLaughlin Northern Campus in Temagami where vital life skills such as self-confidence, understanding relationships, personal growth and a dedicated responsibility toward local and global communities are developed while enjoying the great outdoors.
One of the many unique aspects of Appleby is our grade 12 boarding requirement, providing an opportunity for our students to gain a greater appreciation of different perspectives and cultures, while developing the responsibility and skills to assist with transitioning from high school to university. More than 95 per cent of Appleby graduates are accepted into their university of choice, including some of Canada’s and the world’s most recognized institutions such as the University of Toronto, Queen’s University, Yale University, Duke University, Stanford University, King’s College London and Oxford University.
